At Emergence Photography, we believe that the little details make a big difference when it comes to capturing your wedding day. Over the years, we’ve noticed a few simple tips that can make your photos (and your experience!) even better. Here are some of our favorite tricks to help you feel confident and prepared:

1. Bridal party pockets: keep them empty.
Phones, keys, wallets, or even chapstick in suit or dress pockets will show up in photos—and not in a good way. Have your bridal party keep their essentials in a bag or with a trusted friend, so their silhouettes look clean and polished in every photo.

2. Coordinate family outfits.
When it comes to family formals, cohesive colors go a long way. Ask close family members to dress in shades of your wedding colors. This makes your photos look elegant and timeless. (Trust us, nothing throws off a beautiful photo more than a neon pink dress that wasn’t part of the palette.)

3. Walking down the aisle: slow it down.
Nerves and excitement make couples and bridal parties walk much too fast. Take your time! A slower pace allows us to capture the emotion, your expressions, and those sweet glances toward your guests (or your soon-to-be spouse).

4. The first kiss: hold it.
That magical first kiss is over before you know it—but if you hold it for at least four seconds, it gives us time to capture multiple angles and compositions. Bonus: you’ll both remember it more vividly too.

5. Recessional: make it a celebration.
When you walk back up the aisle as a married couple, don’t just walk—celebrate! Throw your hands up, go in for a fun kiss, do a dip, or just beam at your guests. This is your “just married” moment, and those candid photos of pure joy are some of our favorites to deliver.

Your wedding day goes by quickly, but these small intentional moments can make a big difference in your photos and your experience. With just a little extra thought, you’ll end up with images that truly reflect the joy and beauty of your day.
